It's hard to believe that already 100 years have passed since former President Woodrow Wilson introduced Mother's Day as an International celebration.
Since then it's become a day to buy flowers, chocolate and mushy hallmark cards.
I became a mother at a very young age - I was only 18.
Four children, and two grandchildren later - I realize now, for me, that Mother's Day is so much more than just one day of saying Thank You over brunch.
We can celebrate mom every day (not just on special holidays!)
Living in gratitude and appreciation that I was born to a wonderful, beautiful woman who loved and raised 6 children. And let me give a huge shout out of love and appreciation to all of my girlfriends who were there for me throughout the years (and still are) in some way shape or form, giving me the motherly love, nurturing and wisdom that I needed.
For me, Mother's Day is also about celebrating my children - because without them I wouldn't be the woman that I am today.
My kids have been my greatest teachers.
And now I'm blessed with two beautiful grandchildren who are adding to the incredible life lessons and joys.
Whether you're a mother, daughter, sister, or girlfriend - these favourite quotes that I've collected are especially for you..I can say from my own experience that it's not always the easiest job on the planet - but it certainly is the best....

"The most beautiful word on the lips of mankind is the word “Mother,” and the most beautiful call is the call of “My mother.” It is a word full of hope and love, a sweet and kind word coming from the depths of the heart. The mother is everything – she is our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery, and our strength in weakness. She is the source of love, mercy, sympathy, and forgiveness….Everything in nature bespeaks the mother. The sun is the mother of earth and gives it its nourishment of heart; it never leaves the universe at night until it has put the earth to sleep to the song of the sea and the hymn of birds and brooks. And this earth is the mother of trees and flowers. It produces them, nurses them, and weans them. The trees and flowers become kind mothers of their great fruits and seeds. And the mother, the prototype of all existence, is the eternal spirit, full of beauty and love. ---Kahlil Gibran
